Saturday Brunch – May 6th, 2017

Amy Headlines, News, Saturday Brunch

Welcome to Saturday Brunch. We took a break for a couple of weeks, but we’re back with a bumper issue!

Chris Stapleton

Yesterday saw the release of the Volume 1 of Chris Stapleton’s new album From A Room. As it was ever to be, it’s fantastic and you can read what Nick had to say about it here…

Miranda Lambert

It’s been a month since the ACM’s but we’re still madly in love with the raw perfection that is Miranda Lambert’s performance of “Tin Man”. Released as her new single, it doesn’t deserve to have to fight against the summer party anthems for radio airplay but it makes a refreshing break from the tail gates and tan lines all the same.

Old Dominion

Talking of summer anthems, Old Dominion are back with another cracker (and the lead single from their new record). Award winning songwriters, these guys have a way with words and this lyric video is no exception!

Kenny Chesney

And their tour buddy Kenny Chesney has also released this excellent new video for his thought provoking new single “Rich and Miserable”

Olivia Lane / Diva Jam

We’re gearing up for the CMA Festival in Nashville next month, and we’re delighted to see that Olivia Lane is once again bringing a few friends to her Diva Jam at the Listening Room. A annual songwriters event hosted by Lane, past participants include Ruthie Collins, Mary-Sarah, Stephanie Quayle, Sonia Leigh and April Kry. One of our favourite additions to the festival,if you’re heading to Nashville more information on Diva Jam 2017 is set to be announced very soon!

Tingestock – Don Gallardo & Hannah Aldridge

While we’re on the subject of festivals, back in the UK in July our friends at Clubhouse Records have got together with Empty Rooms Promotions to put together Tingestock Festival on July 8.

The line-up mixes the best of UK and US Americana and includes US representation from the excellent Don Gallardo and Hannah Aldridge.

Set for UK and US release on June 16 get ahead of the game and pre-order your copy of Hannah Aldridge’s sophomore album Goldrush. The follow-up to her outstanding debut Razor Wire, Hannah’s dark blend of rocking Americana is at full flow on the new record and one that we’ll be reviewing very soon!
Jake Owen

Although firm dates have yet to materialise, Jake Owen has confirmed that his Good Company tour will extend to Canada and Europe in 2018. Who else fancies turning the O2 sea foam green for C2C 2018?!

Brandi Carlile

Here is a note from Brandi Carlile about her latest project/album:

#CoverStories is finally out for your ears to hear! I can’t believe the day is finally here. It’s been months and months of organizing, collaborating, recording in studios all around the country, me asking big favors of too many people, and talking about it until I’m blue in the face (thanks for your patience). But I wouldn’t have done it any differently – we’re helping so many kids with the money raised for War Child UK. We’ve generated over $250,000 of our $1 million goal and need to keep the momentum going! If you haven’t picked up your copy yet, know that 100% of the proceeds go to War Child UK through the Looking Out Foundation‘s Story Campaign. Thank you for being advocates, thank you to the artists who made this happen, and thank you all for your support! #TheStoryCampaign

We’ve selected three tracks from Margo Price, Shovels & Rope and The Secret Sisters.

Brothers Osborne

I live for the experience of live music. Nashville is my kind of town and life feels pretty good at a country concert in the sun with a cold beer in hand. My appreciation of country came via my Dad’s collection in the 70’s and 80’s and I spent my teens listening to Springsteen. On a trip to the states about ten years ago I flicked to the CMT channel and Brad Paisley’s Whiskey Lullaby had me hooked. Since then my love of the genre has seen me travel to the US regularly to attend concerts, festivals and more intimate songwriter sessions in some great venues. It is terrific to see artists making the return trip this side of the Atlantic but equally refreshing to see some fantastic homegrown talent gaining recognition. This is an exciting time for “new country” and I am very happy to be along for the ride.
