Luke Tuchscherer launches Crowdfunding Campaign

Press Release Headlines, Press Release

BEDFORD, UK (2/7/15): Singer/songwriter Luke Tuchscherer has launched a crowd-funding campaign for his second solo album.

The Bedford-based musician – also known for being a member of The Whybirds – launched the project via Pledge Music on 1st July 2015, and has already achieved 20% of his target.

Tuchscherer’s debut record, You Get So Alone At Times That It Just Makes Sense, was released in October 2014 to universal acclaim.

The new album, provisionally titled Always Be True, is being produced by Suffolk-based Tom Peters, who also worked with Luke on his debut.

Tuchscherer said: “Last time round, we had great success with the Pledge campaign, and now it’s time to do it again. However, unlike You Get So Alone At Times That It Just Makes Sense – where the album was fully recorded before the campaign began – this time we’re still in the thick of it.

“We need your help to pay for studio time, session musicians, mastering, and production of the physical product. There was a huge demand for vinyl last time, and that’s something we’d love to bring to you.

“This album is really about where I am now, as opposed to a compendium of some of the saddest songs I’ve written like the last one! I’m not saying it won’t have some sad songs on it of course (that’s part of what I do), but in general it’ll be a bit more upbeat.

“I’d really like to reward the kind people who Pledge on this campaign with some bonus stuff, so what I’ll also promise is this: Whatever exclusives you go for, you’ll also get a free EP of fully recorded, properly mastered bonus material outside of the album tracks. Strictly for Pledgers only. I promise to never release that material for free anywhere else.

“There’s also the added incentive that 10% of any money I make after I hit my target will go to Macmillan Cancer Support.”

Luke Tuchscherer is a Bedford-based singer/songwriter. He sings and plays drums in acclaimed alt.country band The Whybirds, who have released three studio albums to date — The Whybirds (2008), Cold Blue Sky (2010) and A Little Blood (2013). The group’s back catalogue also includes the Tonight EP (2007) and Live Recordings Vol.1 (2011).

The Whybirds are composed of Dave Banks (guitar) and Ben Haswell (bass), who also share lead vocals and songwriting duties. Their records have consistently attracted strong reviews from the UK and international music press, including notices in Uncut (ALB – 7/10), Classic Rock (CBS 7/10), Rock N Reel (ALB 4/5, LRv1 – 4/5, CBS 4/5), Maverick Country (CBS – 4/5), Daily Express (ALB – 4/5), Powerplay (ALB – 7/10) and Songwriting Magazine (ALB – 5/5).

In 2011, Luke and Suffolk-based producer Tom Peters (who worked with the ‘birds on Cold Blue Sky) went into the studio to record what would become his debut solo album. Named You Get So Alone At Times That It Just Makes Sense — a title lovingly borrowed from Charles Bukowski — the CD was recorded over a period of 7-10 days, but those days were spread over the best part of three years. Its official release date was 6 October 2014.

Upon release, the album attracted universal critical acclaim. The album was voted second best album of the year in Americana UK’s reader’s poll (and Luke was named second best male artist) and featured on multiple “Best of 2014” lists.

Tuchscherer formed a backing band called The Penny Dreadfuls featuring himself on vocals and acoustic guitar, Dave Banks (guitar), Tom Peters (drums), Nick Mailing (bass) and Dave Marks (keyboards).

He plans to play all over to support the album, both solo and with The Penny Dreadfuls, as well as continue to work with The Whybirds.

His surname is pronounced Tuck-Shearer.
